Site privacy
This covers this website. If you join a waitlist or request TestFlight access, we store the email address you enter and which list it was for (studio, Finio, or TestFlight) — nothing else. We don't ask for your name, and there are no tracking cookies here.
Those emails sit in Cloudflare KV (rate-limited to prevent abuse). We use them for exactly one thing: to email you once, when the relevant product is ready. No newsletters, no drip campaigns — and we never sell, rent, or share them.
For traffic we use Cloudflare Web Analytics: privacy-first and cookieless. It gives us aggregate page counts; it doesn't profile you or follow you across other sites.
You can have your email deleted any time — just write to contact@kupsstudios.com.

Finio — Data & Privacy
Effective 15 May 2026 · Finio v1 · com.kupsstudios.Finio. The same wording appears in-app under Settings → Data & Privacy.
In one paragraph. Finio is a privacy-first personal-finance tracker. Your financial data lives on your device and, if you sign into iCloud, in your private iCloud account. We don't run any servers that store your data. We don't use third-party analytics, advertising, or trackers. AI Insights and search run entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence. The only data that leaves your device is what you choose to send — a household share, an exported CSV, an App Store purchase, or an anonymous request to a public exchange-rate service.
What stays on your device
Finio doesn't collect your data — there's no Finio server to send it to. Everything below stays on your device (and, if you opt in, your private iCloud account):
- Financial data — transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, incomes, savings targets, recurring rules, balances. Powers the dashboard, insights, budgets, and search.
- Profile — your name and the onboarding mode you picked (Just me / Me + partner). Personalises the UI.
- App preferences — cycle start day, currency groups, notification toggles, the active currency. Stored on-device for app behaviour.
Finio does not capture your contacts, location, photos, microphone, advertising identifiers, device fingerprints, or anything outside the scope above.
Where your data is stored
- On your device — in Finio's app sandbox. Other apps can't read it; iOS encrypts device storage.
- In your iCloud account (optional) — if you sign into iCloud, Finio syncs to your private iCloud database via Apple's CloudKit. Apple holds that data; we don't. Disable any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Finio.
- In a shared CloudKit zone (only if you start household sharing) — data you mark "household scope" moves into a shared zone you and your invitees can access. Personal-scope data is never placed there. Leave or disband any time in Settings → Household.
AI Insights & Ask Finio
- AI features use Apple Intelligence on iOS 26+ on supported devices.
- All generation happens on-device. No prompts, transactions, or insights are sent to Anthropic, OpenAI, Apple servers, or any third party.
- We don't use cloud LLMs (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) anywhere in the app.
- If your device doesn't support Apple Intelligence, the AI sections show an unavailable state — they don't fall back to a cloud service.
Search
Natural-language search ("rent last week", "spend over 100") parses on-device. Apple Intelligence handles richer queries on supported devices; elsewhere a built-in parser handles the structured forms. Either way, the query and your data stay on your device.
Subscriptions & purchases
In-app purchases use Apple's StoreKit. Apple processes the transaction, stores your payment method, and sends a signed receipt back to Finio. We never see your card details, billing address, or Apple ID. Subscription state is verified locally against the receipt.
Exchange rates
Once a day Finio fetches USD-based currency rates from a free public endpoint (Exchange Rate API, open.er-api.com) — no API key, no account. The request includes only the public endpoint URL; no transactions, names, balances, or account data are sent. Rates are cached locally so the app works offline.
Notifications
Finio uses local notifications only — no push server, no APNs token sent to a backend. Disable them per type in Settings → Notifications, or globally in iOS Settings.
Automation (Apple Pay + bank SMS)
When you turn on automation in Settings → Automation, two on-device flows can pass data to Finio:
- Apple Pay — Apple's Shortcuts framework passes a transaction's amount, merchant, currency, date, and card last-4 to Finio. No data leaves your device; the result is stored with a "Review" tag until you confirm it.
- Bank SMS — a Shortcut you install reads matching messages and passes the body text to Finio, which parses it with on-device Apple Intelligence. The SMS body is not sent to any server. The parsed transaction is saved locally (and synced to your private iCloud, if enabled).
Both require iOS 26 + Apple Intelligence-supported hardware, are off by default, and never fall back to a cloud parser. Each time you confirm an auto-imported transaction, the merchant→category pairing is remembered in a private on-device lookup (synced only via your private iCloud) so the next ingest is faster — it never leaves your device or iCloud.
CSV export & import
Exports are created on your device; you choose where they go via the iOS share sheet. Imports are files you pick yourself. Finio never uploads either — you own these files.
Beta testing (TestFlight)
If you join TestFlight, Apple collects standard beta telemetry (crash logs, basic device/OS metadata, and feedback you submit) per Apple's TestFlight terms. Finio itself collects nothing additional.
Your rights
- Export everything — Settings → Import / Export → Export all data (a portable CSV).
- Reset all data — wipes transactions and resets balances; keeps your accounts, categories, and rules.
- Delete the app — removes the device store and Finio's iCloud container (Apple may retain backups per their policy).
- Disable iCloud sync, leave a household share, or turn off notifications — all in Settings or iOS Settings.
Children's privacy
Finio isn't directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we don't knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If material changes are made, we'll update this text in-app and bump the effective date. Continued use after changes take effect signals acceptance.
Contact
Privacy questions, deletion requests, or anything else: contact@kupsstudios.com.
Finio has no advertising, no third-party analytics, no behavioural tracking, no telemetry server, and no cloud LLM. If you find anywhere the app contradicts the above, that's a bug — please report it.
